Villette

Villette was inspired by Charlotte Brontë's transformative stay in Brussels. The text was written before and published after Jane Eyre, and is often regarded as the better work. Villette’s content was originally presented to publishers as The Professor, but Charlotte was put upon to rework the material after many rejections.
